The Gainsborough Charles Baines Community Primary School

Together we achieve

Geography

At Charles Baines Primary School, our aim is to inspire children’s curiosity, fascination and appreciation of the world around them. We want our children to be inquisitive about the world that we live in, both close to home and further afield.

Our curriculum aims to engage our children and inspire them to become inquisitive, resilient, independent thinkers and active global citizens. Our children will have the confidence to use and build on their learning and experiences - both inside and outside of the classroom. By comparing our locality, and that of the wider world, we will give the children an opportunity to appreciate the multicultural nature of human geography. Children’s fieldwork skills will be developed through creative and engaging lessons which will allow them to become independent thinkers. Our topics allow for a clear progression of skills throughout the children’s time at Charles Baines.

Learning aims to enhance pupil’s confidence to ask questions about our world, investigate ideas and interpret their findings. We want to ensure our children leave Charles Baines being independent advocates of positive change in the world around them.
