Curriculum Intent
ICT Intent
At our school we want pupils to master technology and to enable them to be responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology. Technology is everywhere and will play a pivotal part in students' lives. Therefore, we want to model and educate our pupils on how to use technology positively, responsibly and safely. We want our pupils to be creators not consumers and our broad curriculum encompassing computer science, information technology and digital literacy reflects this. We want our pupils to understand that there is always a choice with using technology and as a school we utilise technology (especially social media) to model positive use.
Building our knowledge in this subject will allow pupils to effectively demonstrate their learning through creative use of technology. Charles Baines will enable children to evaluate and apply information technology, including new or unfamiliar technologies, analytically to solve problems.
At Charles Baines, we want to be able to create a digital pathway that will enable all children to be able to use a range of devices to help them with all areas of their learning. When children leave us in Year 6, they need to be ready to dive into the world of technology, which has endless capabilities.
From an early age, pupils at Charles Baines will be exposed to digital learning, preparing them for a lifetime of technology. Children at Charles Baines are not only exposed to technology within the classroom, but they are also exposed to STEM trips to entice their excitement and the future of online learning.
Computing is also heavily linked into all other subjects throughout school, making the digital competence of the utmost importance.
